My name is Tol-pi-yiné Simbola (Tol-pi) I am a metalsmith from Picuris Pueblo, and work out of my studio just outside of Pojoaque Pueblo in El Rancho.
I am 30 years old and have been making jewelry on and off since I was 12. That is also the first year I was accepted into the Santa Fe Indian market. I won the youth fellowship when I was 18 and then took a break and worked in the movie industry. I have now been working on just my jewelry full-time for the last 4 years.
Being completely self taught, my work is much more contemporary and I like to think more visually striking than the typical "Native art/jewelry". I pride myself on intricate and somewhat complex designs that take a lot of time to create. I have always been interested in architecture and letting the metal speak for itself. Although, I have recently gotten back from learning how to set gemstones and diamonds under a microscope - which will really take my creations to the next level.
